10/07/2009 New Chairman
New Chairman of COAT Board Appointed
Peter Ord has been appointed chairman of the board of Cairngorms Outdoor Access Trust following the retirement of Patrick Chalmers.
Mr Ord has been a director of the Trust since its inception as Upper Deeside Access Trust in 1988 and brings a wealth of experience to the role of chairman.
Peter said “This is an exciting time for COAT having transformed in 2008 from an access trust managing projects in the area of Upper Deeside to become Cairngorms Outdoor Access Trust with an ambitious programme of work planned across the Cairngorm National Park and its periphery. Patrick Chalmers played a significant role in that transformation and now I look forward to working with the communities of the area and with our funders to deliver an exciting programme of access.”
The Trust has recently completed projects to replace the Gynack Footbridge in Kingussie, construct the School Path at Strathdon and create Tarland’s first All-abilities trail at Alastrean Woods. Currently we are managing work on the Deeside Way near Kincardine O’Neill and developing a programme of path networks around the National Park and surrounding area.
