COAT has developed an exciting new project –The Mountains and The People – with a wide partnership including Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority, Cairngorms National Park Authority, Scottish Natural Heritage and Forestry Commission Scotland.

The project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and aims to enhance and protect the upland environment through a programme of upland path works over 5 years, and to engage the people of Scotland in the delivery of this work.

This post will complete the project training team and will deliver a key aspect of the projects of the Activity Plan and is responsible for developing and delivering SVQ Training Courses within Scotland’s National Parks. The training course will be vocational and site based, with assessment to SVQ standards for Environmental Conservation at Level s 2, 3 and 4.  The Course will look at developing core and specialised upland path skills for trainees, in conjunction with generic skill areas on communication, site assessment, health and safety, and site restoration.

The training officer will be based in Aboyne (Cairngorms), will report to the Activity Programme Manager and will be key members of COATs SQA Centre.

Applicants should have strong technical upland path skills, strong interpersonal skills, and experience or qualifications in delivery of SVQ or similar training would be desirable.
